Plans to build a series of new units at Helston Business Park have been given the go-ahead - set to give an employment boost in the town.

As reported in December, MJL Group aimed to build 10 commercial units built at Helston Business Park, Clodgey Lane. Alongside the formation of a service road.

The 10 commercial units will be within 2 new buildings, with 5 units seen in each building.

The tarmacked area shown between the two buildings will provide 27 parking spaces and allow room for off-road maneuvering.

Pedestrian and vehicular access to the site is provided by the unadopted road running through the business park, which connects to Tresprison Road, which in turn connects to the A394.

Helston Town Council commented:

"The Town Council recommended approval of the application but would encourage the applicant to pay close attention to the advice given by Natural England on the Planning Portal and would request that the applicant give consideration to the use of sustainable materials in the build and energy harvest and provision of electrical vehicle charging points."

This week, conditional approval was given for the plans by Cornwall Council, the planning officer Peter Gregory commented:

"On balance it is considered that the proposal is acceptable, subject to conditions. All other matters raised have been taken into account, including the planning history and the comments of the Parish Council, but none is of such significance as to outweigh the considerations that have led to the conclusion."
