Live updates as Storm Eunice hits Helston
Storm Eunice Helston updates: A red warning has been issued for parts of Cornwall for the arrival of Storm Eunice, Friday (February 18th).
It is expected to cause significant disruption and dangerous conditions due to extremely strong winds between 7am-12pm.
The Red Weather Warning for wind covers southwest coastal areas of the UK, where the most significant gusts in exposed areas could be in excess of 90mph this morning.
The storm means people are advised to take extra care when travelling, with an expectation of widescale disruption, as well as serious risks from flying debris.
Helston wind speeds
According the Met Office gusts could reach speeds of over 60mph by 10am.
Speeds will drop slightly between 11am-12pm to just over 50mph.
After midday winds will continue to drop slowly to around 40mph.
