Helston Community College has asked Year 11 students to take daily lateral flow tests as part of additional covid measures.
The measures have been introduced after an increase in covid cases at the college.
Various changes came into effect on Thursday (27th) and will be reviewed weekly.
After liaising with South West Health Protection Team and Cornwall Council - it was decided to implement additional measures whilst cases are relatively low.
These include:
- Assemblies will be delivered remotely, with students remaining in their tutor rooms.
- Students, staff, and visitors are requested to temporarily continue wearing face coverings in communal areas.
- All Year 11 students are requested to perform a lateral flow test daily for 7 days.
College Headteacher Mr Wayne Jenkins commented:
"We continue to implement a range of measures to reduce the risk of Covid19, including regular hand sanitising, frequent cleaning of surfaces, ventilation of classrooms, and operation of a one-way system. All students/staff who have tested positive are isolating.
"We appreciate that you may find this concerning, but would reassure you that we are continuing to monitor the situation and will seek further advice, if needed. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (Covid-19) will be a mild illness."
