In an announcement on Saturday (16th), Coronation Park in Helston announced that the park was working on a "reopening plan" for the skatepark.
In a recent report, Nub News was told how there were still members of the community using Helston skatepark in Coronation Park despite it being closed due to government guidelines. You can read that here.
A spokesperson for Coronation Park said:
"Following on from the announcement from HM Government in regard to the lifting of restrictions we would like to clarify that the skatepark along with the childrens play park remains closed. This remains in line with all other skate parks in Cornwall.
"At present, the guidance released as of 11th May stipulates the public will still not be able to use areas like playgrounds, outdoor gyms or ticketed outdoor leisure venues, where there is a higher risk of close contact and touching surfaces.
"We have been monitoring Government guidance along with guidance coming out from the governing body of skateboarding in England and we are having 'how we might open' discussions to ensure that when we do open all of these guidelines are met and we can open safely.
"The risk of the transmission of the virus is still very real and we would urge the public to continue to respect the social distancing rules. We understand the frustration many of you have that the facility is closed however we want to remind everyone the reason why this is happening and that is, ultimately, to save lives.
"The facility will be re-opened but only when it is safe enough to do so, the health and wellbeing of our community must be our primary concern."
