Today the Culdrose Military Wives Choir celebrates its eight-year anniversary.

The anniversary comes in strange circumstances as the choir can't sing together in person at the moment.

The choir marked the occasion by remotely recording a song, 'The Climb', something which the choir says "seemed to sum up these challenging times and offer some space for interpretation."

Member of the choir, Melinda King told Nub News:

"I just went along because my husband was away at the time and I needed support and to be with ladies feeling like I was. For me personally, it's special because we all know what Military life is like.

"I have made lifelong friends that I know would be there for me in a second should I need help, support. The Military Wives choirs logo is 'Sing, Share and Support'.

"To make the video the ladies recorded a snippet of themselves singing a particular couple of lines in the song, which Anna Oliver put together as the video, each lady then recorded themselves singing the whole song and what you hear is all the recordings put together by our amazing MD Peter Truin.

"We had booked a birthday meal/party but due to the circumstances we had a Zoom birthday party on Saturday with a quiz, fun bingo ended with a disco. We are all looking forward to being able to sing together again."

Residents commented on the video congratulating the choir on eight years, one comment read:

"This is wonderful, well-done ladies. So beautifully put together."

A second comment read:

"Happy birthday, you are all amazing."

A third comment read:

"Love it! Well done lovely ladies."
