The Mullion Coastguard team were paged this afternoon after two kayakers and a dog got into trouble near Bass Point, Lizard.

Falmouth Lifeboat, The Lizard RNLI and the Bass Point National Coastwatch Institution were also involved in the rescue.

A spokesperson for Mullion Coastguard said:

"One casualty and the dog had managed to successfully climb out of the water to a place of safety whilst the second was collected by a passing fishing boat from a rock at the base of the cliff and dropped them back at the Lizard Lifeboat Station.

"Thanks to Falmouth Lifeboat for collecting one of the kayaks and oars and being on the scene so promptly, thanks to The Lizard RNLI Lifeboat Station for looking after the casualties and their equipment and Bass Point National Coastwatch Institution for providing observations and communications throughout - a highly successful multi-agency rescue."
