Helston Mayor John Martin has praised the work of the Helston Town Council ground staff for keeping the town in shape during lockdown.

Among other jobs Ian, Ian, Mark and Dan have been litter picking and verge cutting, the mayor said they have been "doing a great job in difficult circumstances."

John Martin said:

"It is fabulous, they are only doing a few hours of a morning so what they have done in that short time is magnificent actually.

"It is raising the spirits of the town really, there have been a few complaints as some people feel it is not essential but I believe it could be chaos by the time they get back to it formally and when the lockdown ceases.

"A lot of people I have spoken to are loving it, they think it is fantastic."

He added:

"Thank you for keeping our spirits up, lads, and I know you are keeping to the government safety guidelines."
