Helston residents have continued to speak out against the amount of dogs mess around the town.

Tim Hague, a Helston resident, told Nub News:

"It has been going on for as long as I remember and I can't see why people feel the need to be so lazy.

"It isn't the council's responsibility to come and clean up after other people, it's the dog owners."

Tim has installed CCTV on his premises to try and deter offenders from not picking up their mess.

He thinks there is no excuse for dog owners to be leaving their pet's mess on the street.

"When I was working up country, always in a suit, I still had dog bags in my pocket - it really isn't hard," he said.

"There are bins all over Helston."

The issue has been ongoing for a long time, with many people on social media calling for stronger fines and punishment as a deterrent.

"It's getting horrendous now at my area of the moors, for the last year there's been little to no walkers past my house at the start of the moors and today when I walked out it was covered in dog mess, plus I've still not yet seen a dog kept on its lead," one resident wrote.

The council runs a Public Spaces Protection Order which covers the whole County, in order to keep the same level of enforcement for dog fouling.

The Council say:

"Failing to clean up after your dog has fouled will result in a fixed penalty being issued.

"This is for £100 or prosecution where, if found guilty, you would face a maximum fine of £1000."
