A Helston mother and daughter have been leaving a pile of teddies and toys for residents in the town.

Sarah and her daughter Lilly wanted to spread some positivity during these difficult times.

Sarah told Nub News:

"When we have a clear out of her toys, we always tell her that some children don't have lots and so maybe we should give them to other children in need.

"Now whenever she finds a toy that she no longer plays with she says that she wants to give it to other girls and boys to make them happy.

"We had a discussion about missing people and then we went and cleaned out her cuddly toys, she was picking out the ones that she didn't play with and said she wanted to give them to others to be their friends.

"I asked her if she would like to put them outside and she came out and helped me put them out by the tree and has stood in the window watching children take them, knocking on the window, waving and smiling at them, this has made her very happy.

"We try and teach her to be kind and especially at a time like this, it shows her that even though we can't be near people, we can still connect, share happiness and witness joy in others."

Sarah has been putting photos of the teddies and toys onto social media, urging people to come and collect one.

"The response has been overwhelming," she told us.

"People have been very kind and shown us a lot of love, we really didn't expect the response we got but it has made us all very happy with the wonderful comments and really moved us.

"It shows us that despite the horror currently in the world that there is a lot of love and kindness in people."

One resident said:

"We happened across these teddies this afternoon, my two were very excited! They couldn't wait to go to bed with their new teddies tonite, so thank you!"

Another resident wrote:

"My son picked up iggle piggle on our walk yesterday. He was very happy with it. Thank you! Lovely thing to do."
