Fire crews from across Cornwall are continuing to control a blaze at Nick Ferris Skip Hire.

Firefighters have been battling the blaze at Longdowns since 7:45pm yesterday evening (Monday 31st).

The fire service urged people to approach the area with caution this morning as the incident is ongoing.

Nick Ferris Skip Hire posted this morning:

"Due to a serious incident, we are unable to accept any customers onto our site at Longdowns until further notice. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

Firefighters were called to the scene of a fire at an industrial building around 7:45pm on Monday 31st January.

On arrival, the first appliances requested further assistance, and another two appliances were mobilised along with a water carrier.

Pumping appliances from Falmouth, Helston, and Tolvaddon attended along with water carriers from Helston and Wadebridge, and the welfare unit from St Dennis.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets and main jets to extinguish the fire.

The last update was at 7am, with crews still on the scene damping down.

Cornwall Fire & Rescue added:

"Devon and Cornwall Police & Cornwall Highways have been requested to assist with traffic management on the A394, as crews use a hydrant to replenish their water tanks."
