An opticians in Helston has celebrated its 10th anniversary by raising a fantastic £745 for Cornwall's sight loss charity, iSightCornwall.

Raison Opticians spent the whole month of March celebrating the special occasion and to mark the big event they chose to support iSightCornwall to allow the charity to continue helping people with sight loss in Cornwall.

iSightCornwall is the only charity in Cornwall whose sole purpose is to support people who are blind or visually impaired, whatever their age, circumstance, or condition. They offer help to people in every stage of their sight loss journey and can assist with magnification aids, technology to help people stay independent, clubs and social activities to help with wellbeing, emotional support and more.

The Raison's team sold raffle tickets for a hamper, with all profits going to the sight loss charity, and gave £5 for every dispense over £75. They also received donations from generous customers.

Raison Opticians is an independent family-run practice, set up in 2013 by Brad and Libby Raison. They both studied Optometry at Cardiff University and after graduating in 2006 they moved to Cornwall. They married in Falmouth in 2012 and after their honeymoon worked to set up Raison Opticians.

The couple chose to support iSightCornwall as they both have close links to the charity.

Libby said: "When we were deciding on which charity to support, we didn't have to think very hard, both Brad and I have had connections with iSightCornwall for many years, we both used to work as Optometrists in the clinic and I started volunteering for the charity when I was in sixth form in 1998!"

Libby first came to iSightCornwall when she was completing her Gold Duke of Edinburgh. She volunteered every Wednesday afternoon, pricing equipment, and helping the Cornish Talking Newspapers as their recording studio used to be in the Sight Centre. Back then everything was recorded on tape!

Libby, joined by Brad, later returned to iSightCornwall as a qualified Optometrist. Between them they helped to run the low vision service, hosting the Truro clinic in the Sight Centre every Monday.

It's this close history between Raison's and iSightCornwall which meant the couple decided to celebrate Raison Optician's landmark anniversary by fundraising for the charity.

The raffle proved to be a big success and was boosted by an additional donation of vouchers from Nigel at Charmant.

It was drawn by former iSightCornwall trustee Ian Pullum who pulled out the tickets to make three lucky winners.

Libby said: "We were pleased to announce that during March we have managed to raise a total of £745 for iSightCornwall. iSight Cornwall is such a wonderful charity for Cornwall and Brad and I were so pleased to be able to help them in a small way.

"Thank you to all our patients and suppliers who made this possible and for your continued support!"

Jodi from iSightCornwall recently visited the opticians to say thank you for their support and to wish the team a big congratulations on reaching their 10-year anniversary.

Carole Theobald, Chief Executive of iSightCornwall said: "Thank you so much to Libby and Brad and all of the team at Raison Opticians for all of their fantastic support. We would like to wish them many congratulations on reaching their ten-year anniversary and good luck for the next ten!

"Thank you to everyone who supported the raffle; every penny raised will be spent helping people with sight loss in Cornwall to live life without limitation."
