A date for the reopening of Helston Railway has been revealed - and an update on the shop and buffet.

Announced this afternoon (27th), the railway committee was hoping to have it open by the 7th of July, but that has now been amended to Wednesday 21st July.

Work is well underway at the site, Trevarno Farm, the shop and buffet has been moved to their new home on the new track, and they are closer to a reopening.

The railway will initially be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays only for train rides, although the buffet will also be open on days when trains aren't running.

The shop and buffet are expected to be open before the trains start running, with step entrances and flat walking surfaces nearly completed for the two attractions.

In news shared by the railway, a spokesperson commented:

"Cornish Carriages Buffet and Restaurant Cars will be running our buffet this year. There is going to be a new menu and we are really getting excited now."

The carriage buffet and restaurant will be offering breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, and afternoon tea. There will be Cornish Coffee, Cornish Ice Cream, hot chocolate, and traditional knickerbocker glory.
