Popular Porthleven tea room The Twisted Currant has lodged a new licensing application.

The application would see prosecco and beers served with afternoon teas.

A spokesperson for The Twisted Currant said:

"We wish to serve afternoon teas and cream teas with Prosecco and wine/bottled beer with lunches as required and a limited selection of spirits such as gin and tonics and Irish coffees."

The Twisted Currant reopened in March with a new takeaway menu until they can open with indoor seating.

The tearoom offers everything takeaway, from breakfast baps to salads, sandwiches and homemade cakes, cream teas and chocolate brownies.

The tearoom is now awaiting a decision on the application.
