Mrs K's Fruit and Veg is continuing to do its bit for local farmers and local produce ever since opening in the town in 2017.

Formerly of Coinage Ope, they moved to Meneage Street a few years later and have become a well-established business supporting the community.

Owned by Graham and Shaunette Kerley, the shop stocks an array of local products all sourced within a few miles – including Cornish Honey, Baker Tom's, and Roskillys.

They told Nub News:

"It is mainly customers finding out that local produce from local farms is better than you would purchase in the bigger chains. We try and promote local farms as much as possible – it supports those workers, provides local produce, and it's good for the environment."

Mrs K's keeps growing and doesn't just offer veg – if you walk up the stairs to the top floor, you'll find a huge selection of toys.

They continued:

"When we first opened, we had the fruit and veg with the storeroom at the back. My sister-in-law was going to have that floor for something else, that didn't work out. Somebody rented it as an office for a little while and they left sadly because of covid. We spent time thinking about what Helston didn't have – and we came up with a toy shop which we opened in July last year. It has not been going that long but people are slowly getting to know about it."

Asked about what she loves most about running the shop, Shaunette added:

"It has to be the customers. We have got some lovely customers - they're amazing."

Mrs K's, based on Meneage Street is open Monday-Saturday, pop in and have a browse of their brilliant produce.
