Superstar teenager Lily from Helston smashes fundraising target in 100 mile challenge

By Joseph Macey 9th Sep 2021

13-year-old Lily Williamson, from Helston, took on a 100-mile challenge in August for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Lily lives and studies in Helston and after all the disruptions and struggles of the past 18 months with Covid, she asked her parents if she could do something positive over the school holidays.

Lily has raised a staggering £860, considering the original target was just £150.

Tuesday 31st August was her final run that took her to the 100-mile mark, completing the journey with her dad, Baz Williamson.

After completing the challenge, mum Marie Williamson commented:

"Myself and her Dad (Baz Williamson-who was also her running partner) are so immensely proud and in awe of what she has achieved. She has shown such maturity, determination, and dedication throughout this challenge.

"They have raised a staggering £860, there is still time to donate if you haven't done so already. Thank you so much to all our friends and family that came to cheer them over the finish line."

In fact, the days since the pair completed the run they have raised £1,000, with Marie adding:

"I don't know many 13-year-olds that would use their school holidays and dedicate their time and efforts to complete such a challenge and raise so much money for an amazing charity, The Teenage Cancer Trust.

"You (the supporters) have all been truly amazing and she couldn't have achieved this without all of your support and generosity."
