Back in November 2022, Nub news spoke to Matthew Nott after he opened his new business One Blue Eye, however, Mathew admitted from the start it wasn't your typical shop and he wanted to engage with the community, start conversations and do something good for the planet.

One Blue Eye opening

After taking some time to reflect on running the shop, Matthew said he has made a few changes to his opening times to ensure he remains on the path he started out on.

Matthew explained the reasons behind the changes on social media: "The premises was always meant to be a space to create and develop my ideas on making good things out of plastic waste. When the opportunity came up for this place I jumped at the chance - good location, reasonable rent, and GREAT neighbours!

"Having spent the first month in the shop and meeting some amazing people I have seen what possibilities this type of environment can have in the future. That being said, I am tied to the opening hours of a high street shop, and I don't want that to be the case.

"Part of my creative drive is being out in the environments I am striving to improve, gaining inspiration from the sea, the coastline, and the people I meet. That is why I have updated my "working" week routine."

As the sign shows Matthew might be in the shop on the days specified as Open ish, but will definitely be in the shop on the other days specified.

When not in the shop he will be spending his time collecting plastic waste from various locations and trying to collaborate with other like-minded people who have the drive and passion to 'make life better'.

Matthew says he wants to arrange a weekly beach clean board meet but is already taking advantage of his spare time out of the shop, he shared this message: "Great shout by a One Blue Eyeball (that's what I'm calling our supporters as of just now, open to better suggestions!!) who messaged me about plastic waste collected on Porthleven beach again, some great items here for me to turn into something a little more valuable than waste.

Just some of the work done with injection moulder to turn the plastic into valuable and useful objects.

If you want to help out and share some ideas as a business or an individual you can contact Matthew here: One Blue Eye.
