Socialise and get active with Helston's new community walking group.

Run by Root Training, the free initiative supports people who need it most in the town by getting them outdoors and exercising.

The sessions launch at Helston Boating Lake on Tuesday 22nd February at 2:30pm and continue on a weekly basis.

Root Training is a community interest company focused on people's growth through wellbeing activities. They already run community walks in towns across Cornwall including Camborne and Penzance - and will now be branching into Helston.

Tracey Opie, founder of Root Training told Nub News:

"The sessions will aim to support people that are isolated, got a long-term health condition, or just want to get out and do some exercise in a safe environment.

"The driver behind it is a personal thing going through different personal circumstances and thinking that people might not be as strong as I was. We are looking forward to supporting the community of Helston, getting people moving, and socialising."

At the end of the walk, people will have a chance to pop into the nearby cafe. Root Training will also be supporting participants with transport costs and mobility aids.
