Local coastguard teams were mobilised yesterday evening in a search for a high-risk female.

Porthleven Coastguard Team was notified at 21:32 to assist in the search for a missing person.

3 search teams were deployed from Porthleven Pier to Loe Bar.

Backup was then requested from Mullion Coastguard to search from Church Cove to Loe Bar.

A spokesperson for Mullion Coastguard Rescue Team said:

"We were asked to head to Fishing Cove, Gunwalloe where we deployed two search teams - one on the beach and one on the coastal path - to search towards Porthleven.

"After 40 minutes of searching new information was received indicating she wasn't in the area and we were stood down. Many thanks also to Penlee Lifeboat for their shoreline search."

The police have been contacted to find out if the female was located safely.

In an update, police confirmed the girl was found safe and well just before 1am this morning.
