Motorists in Helston and the surrounding area have been warned about going out and about at the moment due to heavy rainfall on the roads.

There have been numerous reports of roads flooding in the area, with residents sharing images of Penrose flooding and Porthleven roads in and out of the village, heavy flooding also at Methleigh Bottoms.

A flood alert has been issued for West Cornwall rivers following heavy rainfall over the last couple of days.

A spokesperson for the Kernow Weather Team said this afternoon:

"Please be very careful out on the roads at the moment. We are getting reports of a lot of roads getting flooded in the county. Plus there is lots of debris around on the roads that are being washed from fields and driveways.

"Take care when out and about if you do go out."
