A flood warning has been issued for Helston's River Cober as the area feels the impact of the weekends heavy weather.

Although the water levels are dropping, further flooding is expected during this evening Monday (1st) and into the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Further heavy rainfall is expected from the west this evening which is expected to push river levels back above the flood warning criteria.

A spokesperson for the Gov.uk Flood Information Service said:

"A recently completed flood defence scheme will provide increased flood protection to properties in Helston, however, the risk of flooding remains.

"Flooding is expected to properties, low lying land and roads close to the river. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor local conditions. We are monitoring river levels and have staff in the area checking for and clearing blockages."
