Helston Mayor Tim Grattan-Kane told Nub News: "Nationally it has been a great celebration of a historic event. Locally, there have been lots of events in the streets.

"The big lunch is a chance for the whole town to come down and celebrate with our wonderfully successful band in beautiful surroundings.

"Community events are really important. Most of the people attending have only ever known one monarch. Let's celebrate that and make the most of it after two pretty miserable years."

Helston Mayor Tim Grattan-Kane says a few words before the event.

This was the final day of celebrations in Helston for the Platinum Jubilee which marks 70 years since the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne in 1952.
