Back in July last year Nub News reported that on the 24th of January Lloyds Helston bank would be closing leaving the town without any banks.

This will no doubt be worrying for people in Helston. However, alternative banking provision is available to local residents at post office branches nearby.

Each of these branches offers banking services - including deposits, free cash withdrawals, and balance checks, as well as offering face-to-face access to government services, bill payment, foreign currency, travel insurance, and, of course, postal services.

The National Federation of SubPostmasters represents and supports post officer operators and want to highlight the key work done by the post office, a spokesperson for the federation said: "There are many free-to-use ATMs installed across the UK post office network also.
