Coronation Park in Helston has today confirmed that the Environment Agency Analysis and Reporting team have found no evidence of blue-green algae in the boating lake.
This comes following claims made on social media that a dog got critically sick and nearly died from inhaling blue-green algae at the lake.
A spokesperson for Coronation Park said:
"Today we are pleased to announce that the Environment Agency Analysis and Reporting team have confirmed that they have found NO EVIDENCE of blue-green algae in the boating lake at Coronation Park.
"We take any issue such as this extremely seriously and followed the plans and procedures we have in place for such a situation."
The social media post which made the claims described how their dog started to be sick in the back of the car, struggled to breathe and bled from the mouth after a dog walk.
"He was poisoned by BLUE ALGAE in the water, he didn't go near or touch the water, the wind carries its spores which he's inhaled," the social media post read.
"We took him to the vets and if we were five minutes later he would have died."
Coronation Park has said that as part of their management of the park, the staff have been "trained to spot and assess potential issues such as blue green-algae" and that they are pleased their analysis of the lake water "has been corroborated by the Environment Agency."
