Helston Flora Day 2022: Photos from Midday Dance

By Joseph Macey

10th May 2022 | Local News

Potentially the hottest day of the year for the Midday Dance.

The midday dance starts as the Guildhall clock strikes 12 and is the most regal of the dances.

The ladies wear long dresses, picture hats, and evening gloves and the gentlemen are resplendent in tailcoats, waistcoats, and grey top hats.

Spectators lined the streets to cheer on the dancers. Alongside people standing on walls, sitting on shoulders, and leaning out of windows.

The crowd was delighted with the return of the Midday Dance.

The route of the Midday dance was largely similar to 2019, commencing at the Guildhall and proceeding on the road into Meneage Street and through Church St. The Dance entered Lismore Gardens as usual (led by new owners Adam and Sarah Corbridge) and then onto Penhellis Gardens via Cross Street through the Old Vicarage gates, through the garden then on to Leslie House. Finally, leaving Lady Street onto the bowling green and returning to the Guildhall.

Few more photos to follow.
