Whealdream, based between Helston and Wendron, has announced a closure with immediate effect after a potential covid case within the restaurant.

Updating customers on social media, a spokesperson for the restaurant said they were "truly gutted" to be affected by the virus after managing to steer clear of it until now.

They will now wait for definite test results before giving a reopening date.

"Cases down here have been multiplying at a scary rate over the past few weeks so unfortunately, this hasn't surprised us," they said in a statement.

In total, the latest figures had around 38 cases for the area.

What if you have made a booking? The restaurant team added:

"We are trying to contact everyone that has bookings with us this weekend but anyone that does have a booking and hasn't heard from us please contact us via our Facebook page for clarification.

"We can only apologise for any disappointment and inconvenience this has caused but we will be back open very soon."
