Helston businesses are pushing for a late-night shopping event and are appealing for more to get involved.

The late-night shopping is planned for the evening of the 18th, until around 7pm.

The idea was put forward by Melinda King of the Fishermen's Mission with the charity shop opening on 11th and 18th for the children's only gift wrapping evening, inviting other businesses to stay open late.

Amanda from Headrush Gifts, Jaimie from Sands Clothing, Natasha of The Coffee Hut and Danny from Tech Revive and Bowdens Home Hardware are amongst those getting involved in the event with around 17 said to be keen.

Amanda Holgate, owner of Headrush Gifts, Coinagehall Street said:

"I think this time it will bring more people in and I think it is really nice. I'd have Christmas music on, put some more Christmas lights up in the window."

The Beehive, newly refurbished, will be offering hot mulled wine, somewhere for people to grab a drink during or after shopping.

Brett Basford at The British Heart Foundation, Meneage Street is also looking for a spare soup kettle to use for the event - get in touch with them if you can help.

This week we spoke to lots of shops on the big reopening day, which you can watch again here.
