This weekend Helston Athletic travel to Weston-super-Mare for the third-round qualifying in the FA Cup - after the draw was announced Helston shared that they would be providing a free spectator bus for any fans that wished to attend.

Club chairman Paul Hendy said they had already received lots of enquiries about travel for Helstons historic FA Cup fixture on Saturday (1st), but Mr Hendy felt the fans deserved something extra, "it was felt to offer free travel would help not only boost our support but act as a thank you to those supporters that continue to cheer us on," he said.

"It is no secret that we have won a good level of prize money in progressing this far in the competition and to supply free travel to our supporters hopefully goes a little way to thanking them," The Blues chairman added.

Helston's first-round qualifying match was a 2-1 away win against Torpoint, this gave the club £2,250 in prize money. Their second-round qualifying went to a replay after a 3-3 away draw to Bishops Cleeve, but in the home fixture Helston came out on top with a 4-2 win and £3,375 in prize money.

This is the furthest Helston have ever been in the competition, a win on Saturday would be a memorable day for all involved and would bring the club an extra £5,625 in prize money.

The bus will leave Helston at 9am to make the 3pm kick-off at the Optima Stadium, to book a seat email [email protected] or call 01326 573742. Alternatively, you can message the club on social media or pop into the club in person this week.
