Yesterday signalled the start of Helping Helston's mission to provide free school lunches during half term for children in the area.

Set up late last week Helping Helston is a local group trying to help local children through uncertain times.

The group has grown very quickly with almost 300 members joining, offering help and donations.

The group has been so overwhelmed with the generosity of donations made by the community, that they are now in the position to be able to provide food hampers.

The hampers will contain enough food to provide a child with lunch every day this week.

The hampers will be available to collect from three different locations: Bulwark Road play area, Helston Rugby Club car park and Helston Community School South Site car park on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

If you would like a hamper you can pre-order one by private messaging Hailey Houlden-Smith and letting her know how many hampers you require and which location you would like to collect from.

Hailey commented:

"We would like to thank all of you for the huge amount of donations we have received today it is truly heart warming, to see the huge community spirit here in Helston."
