Helicopter circles over Porthleven after reports of casualty in the water

Emergency services were called out after reports for a casualty in the water.

The coastguard helicopter could be heard circling the Porthleven and Helston area following reports of a person in the water.

Mullion and Porthleven coastguard teams were tasked just after 9:30pm last night (29th) - setting up at Tye Rock Porthleven before searching the wider area.

The coastguard were also assisted by Penlee RNLI.

A spokesperson for Mullion Coastguard Rescue Team added:

"With Penlee Lifeboat and our rescue helicopter on scene, a full search was carried out in the area the reporting person said they saw an object.

"We set up a full cliff top set up and prepared two technicians to go over the cliff if needed, however after an extensive search up and down the coast nothing was found and all teams were stood down."
