Yesterday (31st) Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service responded to an incident where it was reported people camping with a small fire on Goonhilly Downs near Helston.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service said:

"We received a 999 call from a person concerned that people camping on Goonhilly Downs had started a small fire.

"Given the very high risk for wildfires at the moment, an appliance from St Keverne Community Fire Station was mobilised to investigate. Upon arrival, the fire was found to be out.

"People must not light any fire, or dispose of anything likely to cause a fire, on heathland/moorland/near gorse during this period of high wildfire risk."
