Driver of van arrested after crash in St Keverne leaves three children in hospital

The driver of a van involved in a collision in St Keverne this week has been arrested, police have revealed.

On Wednesday afternoon (11th), a white transit van driven by a 47-year-old man collided with a red Peugeot 206 driven by a 32-year-old woman and containing three children.

The three children were taken to hospital, two airlifted to Bristol Royal Hospital, they remain in a critical but stable condition.

The third child was taken to Treliske where he is being treated for his injuries.

The female driver of the Peugeot is also still in hospital, but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The driver of the transit van sustained minor injuries.

In an update, a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said he had been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and then released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police are appealing for any witnesses of the collision, or anyone with any dashcam footage from the area at the time, to come forward.
