Coronation Park in Helston has released a statement following multiple reports of anti-social behaviour in their grounds.

In a social media post yesterday, a disgruntled resident described witnessing a group of young men participate in animal cruelty and drug use.

Helston Nub News contacted the police about the anti-social behaviour but they had not received any reports.

Coronation Park addressed concerns from residents in a statement today, reading:

"Coronation Park and Lake has always been a popular destination in Helston and this summer has seen it busier than ever.

"Sadly, the incredible success of the summer has been marred by the occasional reports of anti-social behaviour.

"The Park Team are working closely with the Police, Helston Town Council and the Community Network Team to address concerns about the behaviour of some individuals and groups using Coronation Park and to resolve issues."

The Park has also been running a community youth engagement project since August 1st.

This involves youth workers holding sessions on littering, anti-social behaviour and respecting the area.

"This project has been supported by Helston Town Council, our local Cornwall Councillors and the Police and we are already seeing an improvement in the general behaviour from this demographic," the statement continued.

"We are however concerned that there are still reports of behaviour which is not appropriate and which we do not want to see in our Park.

"We would strongly advise the public that, should they witness any incidents of anti-social behaviour, then they should contact the police by calling 999 for emergencies , 101 for non-emergencies or make an online report."
