In what has been described as 'stunning news' Helston Railway has been awarded £76,100 from the Lottery Fund's Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage.

The railway has confirmed the funding will go towards supporting various projects "on the blocks."

A spokesperson for Helston Railway said:

"It will go a long way to helping us get ready for next season and getting on with a number of our projects.

"We are one of 36 other heritage railways around the country who were successful with our funding bid and shows that even with this year's difficult circumstances we are still a serious part of the heritage community.

"It's great to have something else to smile about. Thanks to all of you who have also donated funds and goods to us this year - we are eternally grateful to you all for your faith in our ability to move mountains or engines."
