A Helston mum has described almost being in tears as support poured in from the community after a post looking for friends for her son.

Rhianna Read, 21, mother to Theo aged 11 months posted in a Helston community group looking for mum friends.

The post read:

"I'm looking for some friends for my son. He's 11 months old and thanks to our friend covid he doesn't really have any friends his own age.

"So if there are any mums with little ones around his age and would perhaps like to take them to a park or something, please let me know."

Not expecting a huge response, residents started pouring in with requests to meet with nearly 70 comments and 60 likes.

After the post blew up Rhianna set up a Helston Parents group to share tips, advice, activities, moral support and covid safe meetups.

Rhianna Read told Nub News:

"I absolutely did not expect such a massive response! I expected maybe four or five people at most. It's been lovely to see so many parents reaching out.

"Over on the page we are introducing ourselves and we have a group chat running as well so members can chat together real-time. We currently have 85 members already.

"It's made me so emotional because I secretly just wanted some more mum friends but was too afraid to ask. So seeing other people feeling alone has made this such an important group to exist."

Since Rhianna spoke to us the numbers on the page have quickly gone up with 110 members.
