Residents have been commenting in disappointment again today after more dog fouling was reported in Helston.
The issue was highlighted on social media by a resident who said that she picked up nine bags of poo this morning.
The post read:
"I'm not writing this post to win a medal, more so to highlight 'again' the dog poo situation at Penrose. Apart from the numerous piles of unbagged poo, I picked up nine bags of poo between Flora Car Park and the walled Allotments and put them in the bins provided which were less than 50 metres away (gloved hands of course).
"These bags weren't even thrown in the hedge, just tossed on the side of the path for people to step on or kids to scoot their bikes over or encrust on pram wheels.
"If I can pick up nine then the disgusting irresponsible dog owners can at least pick up one of their own. A dog poo bag isn't heavy or cumbersome unless you're walking an Elephant."
The debate continues as last week one resident spoke out following the discovery of dog poo left in a plant pot.
Residents were quick to follow the debate, with one person saying:
"Unfortunately it's the same everywhere you go at the moment. We walked Degibna yesterday and it was everywhere. It's not hard to pick up and carry to the nearest bin."
A second comment read:
"I just wonder to myself where these people have been before now. It's disgusting around my area now and for the last year there has been no problem, I used to walk through the woods admiring the trees, river and looking up at the birds singing and now I spend half my time looking down at the floor."
A third comment read:
"Goonhilly is a joke just now for people not picking up their dog poo."
Cornwall Council issued advice recently urging dog walkers to clean up after their dogs, saying:
"Remember, you are required to clean up after your dog has fouled, and properly dispose of it, when your dog fouls in any area which the public are entitled to have access to.
"We have introduced a Public Spaces Protection Order that covers all of Cornwall. This is to ensure all areas of Cornwall have the same levels of enforcement for dog fouling.
"This covers all land (with the exception of Forestry Commission Land) in the open air to which the public is entitled to access (by payment or not).
"Failing to clean up after your dog has fouled will result in a fixed penalty being issued. This is for £100 or prosecution where, if found guilty, you would face a maximum fine of £1000."
