Early plans have been presented with the aim to build apartments on the current site of The Atlantic Inn, Peverell Terrace.
A pre-application enquiry by Murray Planning Associates, outlines plans to potentially demolish the pub and replace it with 6, 2 bedroom apartments.
Although not a full application yet, in a statement, they believe the current building is "of no particular architectural merit and does little to enhance the surroundings" and will not be an overdevelopment of the site.
The Atlantic has become a popular venue for local musicians, pub quizzes, and other entertainment.
However, that could all come to an end with the redevelopment of the site and the building of the three-storey "bespoke development".
The applicant states:
"The proposed development will improve the urban landscape by providing a building of higher design quality, and providing the opportunity to introduce soft landscaping in the rear courtyard area."
Car parking for each property would be provided in the existing public house car park to the south-east of the main part of the site. As would secure cycle parking.
There would also be a communal lobby area, and the rear courtyard would become a private area for one of the new dwellings.
The applicant will now wait for feedback from the council's planning officer.
