Photography competition entrants to demonstrate that they 'Love Helston'

Helston photography competition has been launched with a key focus to demonstrate a love for the town.

The 'Love Helston' competition organised by the Town Council is being held to create a community calendar for 2023. It is the Council's aspiration to make this an annual event.

This initiative is part of Helston's 'Welcome Back Fund' (WBF) programme of events and activities.

The WBF is wholly funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to support the safe return to high streets and help build back better from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Some of the key information you need to know is below.

Who is eligible, and can they enter multiple times?

Anyone is eligible to enter the competition with the exception of relatives of the judges, Councillors, or members of Council staff.

The competition will be split into two categories as follows:

1) Adults (i.e. over 18).

2) Under 18s.

Each entrant will be limited to a maximum of 3 photos.

How to enter the competition

Submit your photos in the required format with your completed entry form to either:

a) The competition email address: [email protected]

b) By hand or post to 'Love Helston' Photography Competition, The Guildhall, Helston, Cornwall. TR13 8ST. The closing date for entries is 5pm on Monday 31st January 2022.

How and when will winners be notified?

Winners in both categories will be notified by their preferred mode of contact. i.e. email, text, or phone call on Friday 4th February 2022.

What prizes will be offered?

In the adult competition: 1st prize will be £200

2nd prize will be £100

3rd prize £50

4th-6th prize £25

Under 18's competition:

1st prize £200

2nd prize £100

3rd prize £50

4th-6th prize £25

How will the photos be used?

The top 6 photographs in each category (12 in total) will feature in a Helston calendar for 2023. Prints of the winning photographs will also be framed and displayed in the town centre. Digital copies will be displayed on websites and social media channels of the Council and Discover Helston. There is also a format and rules for entrants which can be found here.
