Helston Waste and Recycling Centre has been forced to close this afternoon after heavy traffic caused "danger" near the site.

In a post on social media, a resident says how the site is "unlikely" to reopen again today.

The post read:

"Helston HWRC (the dump) is now closed.

"Too much traffic affecting the roads around the site causing a danger. Unlikely to open again today."

The Kernow Weather Team put out a notice on social media confirming the reports:

"Recycling and waste centres at Helston, Saltash and St Erth are CLOSED due to severe traffic congestion.

"Cornwall Council request customers to postpone visits to all sites until a later date to avoid further congestion.
