'Senseless act of vandalism': Appeal issued after arson at Helston play area

Helston Town Council is searching for further information following a "senseless act of vandalism" to a pod swing at a local play area on Saturday.

Residents of Bulwark Road shared the news on social media, with one resident describing the park to be "in a right mess" with a foul smell from the burning swing.

Helston Town Council issued an appeal for information saying:

"A senseless act of vandalism at Bulwark Road play area on Saturday 24th October has resulted in irreparable damage to the community's popular pod swing.

"If you witnessed the incident or have any further information about the crime, please contact Devon and Cornwall Police."

Devon and Cornwall Police added:

"Police are aware of reports of arson at Bulwark Play Park, Helston on Saturday.

"The incident was reported to have taken place between 10pm and 11pm and a number of pieces of play equipment had been damaged by fire."

Anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CR/090283/20.
