Helston Climate Action Group is a group who look at how we can reduce our carbon footprint.

One of the projects the group has started is an 'Incredible Edible' scheme in Helston, the idea is to find green spaces or create green spaces and grow things in them for the community.

Incredible Edible Helston made a start on the Coronation Park Edible Garden on Saturday and were joined by a group of volunteers keen to get involved.

One of the organisers behind the project is Melissa Benyon, Melissa told Nub News:

"We are trying to build a bit of resilience, working together as communities we are showing we are stronger together.

"We want to improve green spaces for wildlife which is being totally broken at the moment, and we are having conversations with people we might not normally talk too so it has a real community feel to it.

Incredible Edible Helston was launched in January, the group envisage a trail through Helston so people can start at one end and have a wander through and pick what they want.

The project is funded by the University of Exeter, which means that equipment can be bought.

Melissa added:

"There has been lots of community support so it is really exciting, it is for everyone to share so they could go and pick some runner beans or strawberries.

"People can pick the food, share the food and hopefully as part of that process they will want to do it in their own garden, it has been a very nourishing wholesome process so far."
