Women's mental health charity opens the doors to their first forever home in Helston

By Joseph Macey 9th Apr 2022

Almost three years in the making - a Women's Mental Health charity has opened its brand new shop in Helston.

Your Voice, Cornwall, offers support groups, social activities, and various other resources to help support women, across Cornwall, affected by mental health.

The charity opened a pop-up shop on Wendron Street in December before moving into a permanent space on Coinagehall Street last week.

Your Voice founder Natasha Long told Nub News:

"Our opening day was absolutely incredible. It exceeded what we hoped for. It just reiterated that we needed to be further into town to get that footfall. Obviously, the more footfall that we have the more money we are taking that will help us fund the groups."

Your Voice is continuing to grow with new groups recently being set up across Cornwall - the money from the shop will help them become more "self-sufficient" and carry on the support of women's mental health.

The shop sells quality clothes – for men, women, and children – books, jewellery and accessories, collectibles, and gifts. They will also be selling DVDs, vinyl in good condition, and homewares such as cushions and pictures.

Natasha added:

"It feels amazing to get this up and running. We are coming up to three years since we launched and the aim was always to get the shop.

"To find our forever home is just incredible. We had the pop-up shop on Wendron Street, but it was quite out the way and a small space. Whereas in the new place we can get a lot more stock out, we can accept more donations. We have had some amazing feedback and it just seems to be working so well."

The shop is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, and then on Saturday 10am-4pm.
