Gemma Priest and running partner Melissa Nicholas are raising money for Sense, a charity who believe that no matter how complex their disabilities, no one should be isolated or unable to fulfil their potential.
Experts offer personalised support through centres, holidays and short breaks, or in people's own homes.Gemma said: "I have run for years, but with the sudden passing of my dad, it became my saviour. Dad meant the world to me and l lost a massive part of my life.
"But I could not crumble and had to stay strong for my family and running helped me through my darkest times and gave me a chance to clear my head and try to make sense of everything."Gemma and Melissa have hosted several fund-raising events and the next will be held at Helston Football Club on March 16 and they are asking for donations which can be raffled or auctioned on the evening.
Gemma, familiar to many as the smiling face of the self-service checkouts at Tesco, has also been busy collecting trash and turning it into cash through TerraCycle, who divert millions of pounds of waste from landfills and incinerators each month.Anyone wanting to help can contact Gemma on 07789 898794 or through Facebook.
