West Cornwall businesses warned following reports of cooking oil thefts

Police are warning businesses in the area to be on alert following the thefts.
Police are warning businesses in the area to be on alert following the thefts.

Devon and Cornwall Police have urged businesses to be alert following thefts of cooking oil in West Cornwall.

Outside areas/yards of businesses in the area have been targeted with thefts of cooking oil becoming more common.

The oil stolen from restaurants and takeaways can be converted into unregulated biodiesel for sale on the black market.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"We would like to make pubs/restaurants aware that we have received reports of theft of used cooking oil from outside areas/yards. Please be wary of this, inform staff and review security."
