Wendron Football Club is hoping to land a financial boost that will help upgrade the facilities.

Wendron is one of many clubs across the country in the running to win a cash injection including Wroxham FC, Corby Town, and Newquay AFC.

Buildbase, who are sponsors of the FA Trophy & Vase competition each year gives clubs a chance to win funding from them for projects to improve facilities on the ground.

Wendron will put the money towards renovating its clubhouse, upgrading all changing rooms and the club's kitchen.

The competition will give £10,000 worth of building materials (including electricals and hire equipment) to ten winning clubs, allowing them to renovate their club.

Voicing his support, West Cornwall MP Derek Thomas commented:

"Wendron FC is a fantastic community club, and whilst the club itself is not in my constituency, it serves a host of village communities near Helston (I used to hang out there). Support the Dron."
