RNAS Culdrose personnel were called upon after two vehicles crashed outside the base this afternoon.

Just after 12pm (Tuesday 8th) two cars travelling towards the Lizard collided on the A3083 outside the main gates.

A spokesperson for RNAS Culdrose said:

"Security and medical personnel from RNAS Culdrose acted swiftly to help the drivers after the crash on the main road. Military personnel helped marshal the traffic until the police arrived. We hope the drivers are ok."

Traffic was able to divert through the bus lane at Culdrose.

In an update, Devon and Cornwall Police added:

"We were informed of a two-car collision at around midday today. One of the drivers is pregnant so has been taken to hospital as a precaution. The vehicles have been moved off the road."
