UPDATE: Sheep "deliberately mutilated" in Helston according to police

Devon and Cornwall police have released a full statement into the death of a sheep in Helston.

Earlier today we brought you the news that farmers in the local area were on alert following reports of sheep being 'professionally butchered' in fields.

Now, police have launched an investigation following the report that a sheep was killed in a field on a farm in the Helston area.

Providing more information on the incident Devon and Cornwall Police added:

"The deceased animal was found on the morning of Sunday 8th November and appears to have been deliberately mutilated.

"Farmers and smallholders are asked to remain vigilant and anyone who sees any suspicious activity is urged to contact police immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, or email [email protected], quoting crime reference number CR/094372/20.
