The Trengrouse Way public conveniences have been hit by an incident of vandalism.

The toilets have been closed for much of the day after an outflow pipe was kicked and broken.

Posting on social media this morning, the Town Council said the public conveniences will be closed this afternoon, "the Trengrouse Way public conveniences are currently closed due to vandalism," they said.

Revealing more details on the incident the Town Council told Nub News:

"The waste outflow pipe was kicked off of the toilet breaking it where it goes through the wall. Luckily we are able to fix it ourselves for just the cost of materials.

"The work is being carried out at the moment and we hope to be able to reopen the toilets later today."
