A tree planting event has been held in honour of the late Helston macebearer Fred Angove.

Town macebearer for over 30 years and much-loved community figure Fred sadly passed away in 2019.

The event was held yesterday afternoon (6th) on Meneage Road, with family members, organisations and representatives present led by the mayor Tim Grattan Kane.

Cornwall Council provided Helston Town Council with a Landmark Tree to commemorate a person within Helston.

Back in July, the Town Council decided that it would be appropriate to commemorate the contributions that Fred Angove made to the town

Pictures were shared on Facebook of the event, with Helston Plougasnou Twinning Association commenting:

"Wonderful way to honour a wonderful man. No doubt it will be the earliest tree to flower and ensure all the other trees are ok."
