The new "Flora Day challenge" for residents to carry on dancing from home

Christian Lightfoot is encouraging people to get involved with a "Flora Day at home" challenge.

Flora Day was cancelled this year following the government restrictions on Coronavirus.

Christian is trying to get people to dress up in the traditional Flora Day dress and dance and continue the celebrations in lockdown.

Christian Lightfoot told Nub News:

"I have created a challenge to encourage anyone to have a go at creating their own Flora Day at home on Friday the 8th just for a bit of fun. My video is just a bit of a laugh, being a Helston boy, unfortunately, I have never danced but now after watching this, I may be banned forever.

"I've dressed up in my finest for sheer laughs, I wish for people to wear whatever they fancy, there is a strict dress code traditionally but the dance is all about bringing people together to celebrate the passing of winter and the feast of St Micheal.

"I would like for people to play the music and dance with their partners, children and families living together, or to socially distance themselves and dance in the street."

He added:

"I've not planned any charities to run alongside but anyone can do so if they wish."
