Helston eateries showed their community spirit by offering food and hot drinks for marshals and staff at Helston Medical Centre during Sunday's round of vaccinations.

The Cornish Oven and Crate came together offering refreshments for those still working on a Sunday during the hailstorm.

Helston Medical Centre said, "the hot drinks and food were very welcome and gratefully received," and praised the community support as they looked to hit Sunday's target of vaccinating 800 people.

Kate Pearson, Assistant Manager at The Cornish Oven, Helston told Nub News:

"I was sat at home on my day off and I saw a lady post on Facebook asking if any local businesses were open and I knew the boss wouldn't have any issue with it whatsoever.

"Bless, Sunday (24th) was horrible with hailstones and everything so I messaged the girls and asked them if they could make some teas and coffees and walked them down.

"It wasn't anything major, just a bit of community spirit, especially on a weekend in that weather I think a little bit of human kindness goes a long way.

"There is a lot of bad blood going around with everybody in lockdown but a little bit of a thank you to let them know it is appreciated."
